The height of a right circular cylinder is three times its radius. If the curved surface area of the right circular cylinder is 3696 cm2, then the volume of the cylinder is equal to (taking π = 22/7)

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: C

Explanation

The correct answer is option 3 i.e. 25872 cm3.

The height of a right circular cylinder is three times its radius

The curved surface area of the right circular cylinder = 3696 cm

Let's assume the radius = x

height = 3x

The curved surface area of the right circular cylinder = 2πrh

3696 = 2 × 227\frac {22} 7 × x × 3x

x2 = 196

x = 14

The volume of the cylinder = πr2h

= 227\frac {22} 7 × x2 × 3x

= 227\frac {22} 7 × 142 × 3 × 14 = 25872 cm3
