SSC GD Constable (English) - 2 Feb 2023 - Shift 3 • Quantitative Aptitude • Q43

The height of a right circular cone is 24 cm and its slant height is 25 cm. What is the curved surface area of the cone? (In cm2) (Use π = 227\frac{22}{7})

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: B

Explanation

The correct answer is option 2 i.e. 550

Given that

The height of a right circular cone (h) = 24 cm and its slant height (l) = 25 cm

Formula used

The radius r = √(l2 - h2)

the curved surface area of the cone = πrl

Calculation

Radius r = √(252 - 242) =√(625 - 576) = √49 = 7 cm

CSA = πrl = (22/7) × 7 × 25 = 550 cm2
