The difference between simple interest on a certain sum at the annual rate of 10 percent for 7 years and 8 years is Rs. 57. What is the sum?

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: C

Explanation

The correct answer is option 3 i.e. Rs 570.

Given that, difference in simple ineterest = Rs 57

Rate = 10%

SI = P×R×T100{P \times R \times T} \over 100

where P, R and T are sum of money, rate and time period respectively.

Let the sum of money be Rs P.

According to the given question,

P×10×8100{P \times 10 \times 8} \over 100 - P×10×7100{P \times 10 \times 7} \over 100 = 57

⇒ 10P = 5700

⇒ P = 570

Hence the sum of money is Rs 570.
