The diameter of a hollow hemisphere is 40 cm. Water is filled in it up to its brim. When spherical lead shots each of diameter 0.8 cm are dropped into the hemisphere, three-fifths of the water flows out. How many lead shots were dropped into the hemisphere?

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: A

Explanation

The correct answer is option 1 i.e. 37500.

Volume of water spill out = Volume of spherical shots

⇒ 35×23×π×(20)3=n×43×π×(0.4)3\frac{3}{5} \times \frac{2}{3} \times \pi \times (20)^3 = n \times \frac{4}{3} \times \pi \times (0.4)^3

⇒ 24000 = n × 0.64

⇒ n = 37500
