SSC CGL - 17 Aug 2021 - Shift 1 • Quantitative Aptitude • Q58

The curved surface area of the cylinder is 462 cm2 and its base area is 346.5 cm2. What is the volume (in cm2) of the cylinder? ( Use π\pi = 22/7)

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: B

Explanation

The correct answer is Option 2 i.e 2425.5.

Let the radius and height of a cylinder be 'r cm' and 'h cm'.

Area of the base of a cylinder = 346.5

⇒ πr2=346.5\pi r^2 = 346.5

⇒ r2 = 110.25

⇒ r = 10.5 cm.

Now the curved surface of a cylinder = 462

⇒ 2πrh=4622 \pi rh = 462

⇒ 2 × 22/7 × 10.5 × h = 462

⇒ h = 7 cm.

Now the volume of the cylinder = πr2h\pi r^2h

22/7 × 10.5 × 10.5 × 7 = 2425.5 cm2.
