SSC MTS - 15 July 2022 - Shift 2 • Quantitative Aptitude • Q56

The curved surface area of a right circular cone is 44 cm2. If the slant height of the cone is 7 cm, then find the radius of its base. [Use π = 22/7 ].

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: A

Explanation

The correct answer is option 1 i.e. 2 cm.

The curved surface area of the right circular cone = CSA=πrlCSA = \pi r l

The curved surface area of a right circular cone = 44 cm2

Slant height = 7 cm

CSA=πrlCSA = \pi r l

⇒ 44 = (22/7) × r × 7

⇒ r = 44/22 = 2

Hence the radius of the cone is 2 cm.
