The current ages of Sudhir and Ashish are in the ratio 5 : 7. Twelve years ago, the ratio of their ages was 1 : 2. What will be the age of Sudhir five years from now?

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: B

Explanation

The correct answer is Option 2 i.e. 25 years.

Let the current ages of Sudhir and Ashish be 5x and 7x

Twelve years ago, the ratio of their ages was 1 : 2

According to the question

⇒ (5x - 12)/(7x - 12) = 1/2

⇒ 10x - 24 = 7x - 12

⇒ 3x = 12

⇒ x = 12/3

⇒ x = 4

So, the current ages of Sudhir is 5x = 5 × 4 = 20

Hence,

The age of Sudhir after five years from now = 20 + 5 = 25 years
