Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: C

Explanation

The correct answer is option 3 i.e. ₹51,000.

Let the cost price of both articles be Rs. x each.

SP = CP × (100+P)100{(100 + P) \over 100}

Given that, SP of first article = x×(100+12)100x \times {(100 + 12) \over 100}

⇒ 112x100112x \over 100 = 28x2528x \over 25

Also, SP of second article = 28x2528x \over 25 + 3600

Overall profit = 15275115\frac{27}{51} %% = 15.5%

Overall SP = 2x×(100+15.5)1002x \times {(100 + 15.5) \over 100}

⇒ 231x100231x \over 100

Now, 28x2528x \over 25 +  28x2528x \over 25 + 3600 = 231x100231x \over 100

⇒ 231x100231x \over 100 - 56x2556x \over 25 = 3600

⇒ 7x = 360000

⇒ x = 51000

Hence the cost price of each article is ₹51,000.
