The cost price of a book is ₹ 250. If the successive discounts offered on the book are 10%, 15% and 20%. then find the total discount on the book?

The correct answer is option 1 i.e. 38.8%

Successive discount = x + y - x×y100\dfrac{x × y}{100}

Successive discount of 1st discount = 10 + 15 - 10×15100\dfrac{10 × 15}{100}= 23.5%

Effective successive discount = 23.5 + 20 - 23.5×20100\dfrac{23.5 × 20}{100} = 38.8%

So the total discount on the book is 38.8%.
