The Climate Smart Cities Assessment Framework 2.0 (CSCAF 2.0) evaluates 126 cities across India. This includes all 100 cities under the Smart Cities Mission and 26 additional cities with populations over 500,000, such as state capitals and other major urban centres. The framework assesses cities on 28 indicators across five thematic areas: Energy & Green Buildings, Urban Planning, Green Cover & Biodiversity, Mobility & Air Quality, Water Management, and Waste Management. Each indicator is designed to be progressive and aspirational, reflecting cities' contributions to national and international initiatives like the National Mission on Sustainable Habitat (NMSH), Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction.
