SSC CGL Tier II - Quant - 15 Nov 2020 • Quantitative Aptitude • Q11

The base of a right prism is a regular hexagon of side 5 cm. If its height is 12√3 cm, then its volume (in cm3) is :

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: C

Explanation

The correct answer is option 3 i.e. 1350

Concept

Volume of Prism = Area of Base x Height

Since this is a hexagonal base, we need to find the area of base:

Area of Hexagonal Base =  6 x 6 × (√3/4) × side2

Application

Side = 5 cm (Given)

Height = 12√3 (Given)

Area of Base = (√3/4) × 52 x 6

150 × (√3/4)

Volume = 150 × (√3/4) × 12√3

= (1800 × 3)/4

= 1350 cm3
