SSC CHSL - 6 Aug 2021 - Shift 1 • Quantitative Aptitude • Q63

The average weight of 3 persons A, B and C is 60 kg. When D joints the group, the average weight becomes 65 kg. When another persons E whose weight is 3 kg less than that of D replaces A, the average weight of B, C, D and E becomes 67 kg. What is the weight of A?

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: D

Explanation

The correct answer is option 4 i.e. 69 kg.

Weight of D  = (65 × 4) - (60 × 3) = 80kg

Then, weight of E will be 80 - 3 = 77kg

77 + (60 × 3 - P) + 80 = 67 × 4

⇒ P = 69

Weight of A  is 69kg.
