Aravalli Green Wall Project -
The Aravalli Green Wall Project is an ambitious Central Government scheme, launched in March 2023 on the occasion of International Forest Day.
Its primary objective is to prevent land degradation around the Aravalli mountain range and create a protective shield against desertification.
The project spans 29 districts across four states—Haryana, Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Delhi.
Buffer Zone: Under this scheme, a 5-kilometer buffer zone is being developed around the Aravalli mountain range, where large-scale tree plantations will be undertaken.
The project is inspired by Africa's "Great Green Wall" initiative, which aims to halt the expansion of the Sahara Desert.
