Sudarsan and Abraham appear for an interview for two vacancies. The probability of Sudarsan's selection is 13\frac{1}{3} and that of Abraham's selection is 15.\frac{1}{5}. Find the the probability that none of them will be selected.

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: A

Explanation

The correct answer is option 1 i.e. 815\frac{8}{15}.

Given that

The probability of Sudarsan's selection = 13\frac{1}{3}

The probability of Abraham's selection = 15\frac{1}{5}

 According to the question

The probability of Sudarsan not to get selected = 1 - 1/3 = 2/3

The probability of Abraham not to get selected = 1 - 1/5 = 4/5

Hence, the probability that none of them will be selected = 2/3 × 4/5 = 815\frac{8}{15}
