SSC CGL 2023 PYQ — Question 94

SSC CGL - 18 July 2023 - Shift 2 • Reasoning • Q94

Study the given pattern carefully and select the number that can replace the question mark (?) in it.

(5, 19, 4)

(1, 7, 4)

(6, ?, 1)

(NOTE: Operations should be performed on the whole numbers, without breaking down the numbers into its constituent digits. E.g. 13 -- Operations on 13 such as adding/subtracting/multiplying etc. to 13 can be performed. Breaking down 13 into 1 and 3 and then performing mathematical operations on 1 and 3 is not allowed)

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: C

Explanation

The correct answer is option 3 i.e. 19.

The logic used here is:

Second number = (First Number x 3 ) + Third Number

Given,

(5, 19, 4)

⇒ (5 x 3) + 4 = 15 + 4 = 19

(1, 7, 4)

⇒ (1 x 3) + 4 = 3 + 4 = 7

Similarly,

(6, ?, 1)

⇒ (6 x 3) + 1 = 19

Hence, the correct answer is 19.
