The total number of girls in schools B and C is what percent less than the total number of boys in schools A and D?

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: A

Explanation

The correct answer is option 1 i.e. 1.25.

Given -

Number of schools = 5

Total number of boys in A = 680 × (9/17) = 360

Total number of boy in D = 660 × (2/3) = 440

Total number of boys in A and D = 360 + 440 = 800

Total number of girls in B = 720 × (5/9) = 400

Total number of girls in C = 540 × (13/18) = 390

Total number of girls in B and C = 400 + 390 = 790

Required percentage = [(Total number of boys in A and D - Total number of girls in B and C) × 100]/Total number of boys in A and D = [(800 - 790) × 100]/800 = 1.25%
