Sonu and Ravi working together can complete a job in 3 hours whereas Sonu alone can complete the same job in 4 hours. In how many hours can Ravi alone do the job?

Sonu + Ravi combined work rate =13 \frac{1}{3}  job/hour

Sonu's rate = 14\frac{1}{4}  job/hour

Sonu's rate  + Ravi's rate  = Combined rate  = 14+1x=13\frac{1}{4} + \frac{1}{x} = \frac{1}{3}

⇒ 1x=13−14=4−312=112⇒x=12\frac{1}{x} = \frac{1}{3} - \frac{1}{4} = \frac{4 - 3}{12} = \frac{1}{12} ⇒x=12
