The Government of India launched the Smart Cities Mission on June 25, 2015. The objective of this scheme is to develop modern infrastructure, improved transportation, and digital services in cities. Under this mission, 100 cities across the country were selected. Emphasis was placed on e-governance, smart traffic management, green energy, and improved urban living. In June 2025, the mission completed ten years. During this period, smart roads, surveillance systems, and public amenities were expanded in numerous cities.
