The correct answer is option 3 i.e. I read the newspaper.

  • In the passive sentence, the subject is "newspaper" and the object is "me". 
  • To convert the sentence from passive to active voice, subject and object are interchanged, however, the tense remains the same here, i.e. "simple past". The subject now becomes "I" and "newspaper" becomes the object. 
  • Therefore, the correct sentence is "I read the newspaper".
