Select the most appropriate option to fill in blank number 1.

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: B

Explanation

The correct answer is option 2 i.e. agree.

In this context, the sentence discusses Daniel's efforts to communicate with people about the right to life and their responses to his message.

The word "agree" in blank number 1 indicates that the people Daniel is talking to do not share his perspective or agree with his assertion that they have the right to live in freedom and safety.

Instead, they seem to hold a different opinion, perhaps believing that the decisions about war and security are not within their control but rather up to the government.

The most appropriate option to fill in blank number 1 is: agree.

So the sentence would be: "...but the people do not agree..."
