Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: C

Explanation

The correct answer is option 3 i.e. 14%

Given :

Cost price of computer table = Rs 10,000

Cost price of center table = Rs 5000

Profit percent on computer table = 8%

Overall profit percent = 10%

Formula used :

Profit = Selling price - Cost price         ----- (1)

Profit percent = (Profit/cost price) × 100        ----- (2)

Selling price = ((100 + p%)/100) × Cost price         ------ (3)

Calculations :

Using equation (3)

Selling price of computer table = ((100 + 8)/100) × 10000

⇒ (108/100) × 10000

⇒ 10800

Cost price of computer table and center table = 10000 + 5000

⇒ 15000

Selling price of both computer and center table = (110/100) × 15000

⇒ 16500

Selling price of center table = selling price of both tables - selling price of computer table

⇒ 16500 - 10800

⇒ 5700

Using equation (1)

Profit on center table = 5700 - 5000

⇒ 700

Using equation (2)

Profit percent on center table = (700/5000) × 100

⇒ 14%
