SSC CGL 2018 PYQ — Question 27

SSC CGL Tier II Quant - 09/03/2018 • Quantitative Aptitude • Q27

PQRS is a rectangle. The ratio of the sides PQ and QR is 3 :1. If the length of the diagonal PR is 10 cm, then what is the area (in cm2) of the rectangle?

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: B

Explanation

The correct answer is Option 3 i.e. 30

Let say, PQ = 3k and QR = k.

So,

(3k)2 + k2 = 102

⇒ 10k2 = 100

⇒ k = √10

So, PQ = 3√10 cm and QR = √10 cm.

So,

Area = PQ × QR = 3√10 × √10 = 30 cm2
