One side of a rhombus is 13 cm and one of its diagonals is 24 cm. What is the area (in cm2) of the rhombus?

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: C

Explanation

The correct answer is Option 3 i.e. 120.

Given that,

a = 13 cm, d1 = 13 cm, and d2 = ?

⇒ d2 =2132−122=2 \sqrt{13^2-12^2}

⇒ d2 = 2169−1442 \sqrt{169-144}

⇒ d2 = 2252 \sqrt{25} = 2 × 5 = 10

Area of the rhombus = 12 d1×d2\frac{1}{2} \mathrm{~d}_1 \times \mathrm{d}_2

⇒ 12×24×10\frac{1}{2} \times24\times10

⇒ 12 × 10 = 120 cm2

Area of the rhombus = 120 cm2
