Vijender Singh Beniwal is one of India's most successful boxers and hails from the Bhiwani district of Haryana state.
He made history by winning the bronze medal in the middleweight (75 kg) category at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, becoming the first Indian boxer to win an Olympic medal.
He is considered a product of the Bhiwani Boxing Club. Bhiwani is known as the cradle of Indian boxing or "Mini Cuba" because it has produced many international boxers.
