Manoj and his wife Swathi fill a tank with water fetched from a well. Manoj fetches 5 litres of water in 4 minutes whereas Swathi fetches 4 litres of water in 5 minutes. Find the time taken by them together to fetch 205 litres of water.

According to the given question,

Efficiency of Manoj = 545 \over 4 litres/minute

Efficiency of Manoj's wife = 454 \over 5 litre/minute

Time taken by Manoj and his wife to complete 205 units of work = 205(54+45){205 \over ({5\over4} + {4\over 5})}

⇒ 205×2041{205 \times 20} \over 41 = 100

Hence the required answer is 100 minutes.
