SSC CGL Tier II Quant - 20/02/2018 • Quantitative Aptitude • Q10

M is the largest 4 digit number, which when divided by 4, 5, 6 and 7 leaves remainder as 2, 3, 4, and 5 respectively. What will be the remainder when M is divided by 9?

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: B

Explanation

The correct answer is option 2 (i.e. 1)

4 – 2 = 2, 5 – 3 = 2, 6 – 4 = 2, 7 – 5 = 2

→ LCM of 4, 5, 6, 7 = 420

Number, M = 420k – 2

Largest for 4 – digit = 9999

420 × 23 = 9660

420 × 24 = 10080

M = 420 × 23 – 2 ⇒ 9658

Reqd. Reminder = 9658/9 = 1
