Length of chord MN is 40 cm. The distance of the chord MN from the centre is 15 cm. What will be the radius of this circle?

Explanation

The correct answer is option 4 i.e. 25 cm.

Length of Chord = 2 × √(OM2 − OP2)

⇒ 2 × √(OM2 − 152) = 40

⇒ √(OM2 − 152) = 20

⇒ OM2 − 225 = 400

⇒ OM2 = 625

⇒ OM = 25

Hence, the radius of this circle is 25 cm.
