LCM of two numbers is 56 times their HCF, with the sum of their HCF and LCM is 1710. If one of the two numbers is 240, then what is the other number?

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: A

Explanation

The correct answer is option 1 i.e. 210

Let the number be x and y

Let their HCF and LCM be H and L respectively.

Given that L = 56 × H

And, H + 56H = 1710

⇒ 57H = 1710 ⇒ H = 30

We know, Product of the numbers = Their HCF × Their LCM

⇒ x × y = H × 56H ⇒ x × y = 30 × 30 × 56

We have one number = 240.

Then, 240 × x = 900 × 56

Solving this equation, we get x = 210

Thus, The other number is 210
