LCM of two numbers is 22 times their HCF. If one of the numbers is 132 and the sum of LCM and HCF is 276, then what is the other number?

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: A

Explanation

The correct answer is option 1 i.e. 24

Given:

LCM of two numbers is 22 times their HCF

One of the numbers is 132

Sum of LCM and HCF is 276

Formula used:

LCM × HCF = A × B        ----- (1)

Where, A = one number

B = another number

Calculations:

Let the HCF be h

LCM = 22h

⇒ 22h + h = 276

⇒ 23h = 276

⇒ h = 12

LCM = 22 × 12 = 264

Now using equation (1), we get

⇒ 264 × 12 = 132 × B

⇒ B = 24
