The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) celebrated its silver jubilee (25‑year milestone) on October 12, 2018, and the events were held in New Delhi. The three‑day celebrations commenced with a foundation day function at Vigyan Bhawan, followed by a Human Rights Mela and street‑theatre festival at Central Park in Connaught Place, and concluded with a Human Rights Walk at Nehru Park, also in New Delhi. This high‑profile event—the first of its kind by NHRC—was addressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and included release of a commemorative stamp, a new NHRC website launch, and public engagement through cultural programmes to raise awareness on human rights issues.
