SSC CGL Tier II Quant - 11/09/2019 • Quantitative Aptitude • Q59

In triangle ABC, AB = 7 cm, BC = 10 cm and AC = 8 cm. If AD is the angle bisector of ∠BAC, where D is a point on BC, then BD is equal to:

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: C

Explanation

The correct answer is option 3 i.e. 14/3 cm.

By Angle bisector theorem:

BD : DC = AB : AC

⇒ BD : DC = 7 : 8

So,

BD = (7/15) × 10

⇒ BD = 14/3 cm
