SSC CHSL - 30 Nov 2025 - Shift 1 • Reasoning • Q38

In the question below there are three statements followed by two conclusions I and II. You have to take the given statements to be true even if they seem to be at variance from commonly known facts and then decide which of the given conclusions logically follows from the three statements disregarding commonly known facts.
Statements:
Only Car are Vehicle.
Some Car are Bulky.
All Metal are Bulky.
Conclusions:
I. Some Vehicle are not Metal.
II. Some Metal are Car.

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: C

Explanation

Only conclusion I follows.

Conclusion I: Some vehicles are not metals.

Correct: According to statement 1 ("Only cars are vehicles"), 'vehicles' can only be 'cars'. This means that vehicles cannot have any relation with any other category (such as metals). Therefore, the statement "Some vehicles are not metals" (in fact, no vehicles are metals) is logically correct.

Conclusion II: Some metals are cars.

Correct: According to the statements, all metals are 'heavy' and some cars are 'heavy'. No direct relation is given between metals and cars. Metals and cars can also be different, so this conclusion is not necessarily true.
