SSC CGL - 18 Aug 2021 - Shift 3 • Quantitative Aptitude • Q75

In Δ\Delta PQR, ∠\angleQ = 90º. If tan R=13R = \frac{1}{3}, then what is the value of secP(cosR+sinP)cosecR(sinR−cosecP)?\frac{secP(cosR+sinP)}{cosecR(sinR-cosecP)}?

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: B

Explanation

The correct answer is option 2 i.e. −187-\frac{18}{7}

If   tan R=13R = \frac{1}{3} = P/B

(Hypotenuse)2 = 32 + 12

H = 10\sqrt{10}.

sinP = 3/10\sqrt{10} and sinR = 1/10\sqrt{10}

cosR = 3/10\sqrt{10}

cosecP =10\sqrt{10}/3 and cosecR =10\sqrt{10}/1

secP = 10\sqrt{10}

⇒ secP(cosR+sinP)cosecR(sinR−cosecP)\frac{secP(cosR+sinP)}{cosecR(sinR-cosecP)} = 10(310+310)10(110−103)\frac{\sqrt{10}(\frac{3}{\sqrt{10}}+\frac{3}{\sqrt{10}})}{\sqrt{10}(\frac{1}{\sqrt{10}}- \frac{\sqrt{10}}{3})}

⇒ 6×31010×−7\frac{6 \times 3\sqrt{10}}{\sqrt{10} \times -7}= -18/7.
