In equilateral ΔABC, E is a point on side AC such that AE = AD, where D is the midpoint of BC. What is the measure of ∠EDC?

Explanation

The correct answer is option 4 i.e. 15˚.

⇒ ∠BAD = ∠DAC = 60260\over2 = 30°

ΔAED, AE = AD

⇒ ∠ADE = ∠AED

⇒ ∠AED + ∠EDA + ∠DAE = 180°

⇒ 30° + 2 × ∠ADE = 180°

⇒ ∠ADE = 75°

⇒ ∠EDC = 90° - ∠ADE

⇒ 90° - 75° = 15°
