How many papers were there in the examination?

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: C

Explanation

The correct answer is Option 3 i.e 11.

Let's assume the total number of papers is x and some of the marks of students is y.

Average = yx\frac{y}{x} = 67.6

⇒ y = 67.6x

New average = y+27+10+18x=72.6\frac {y+27+10+18}{x}=72.6

Put the value of y in the above equation.

⇒  67.6x + 55 = 72.6x

⇒  5x = 55

x = 11

The total number of papers x = 11
