Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: B

Explanation

The correct answer is option 2 i.e. 12000.

Let the total votes be x

If one of the candidates secured 44% of the votes then another candidate got 56% of the votes

Difference between votes = 1440

So,

⇒ 56% of x - 44% of x = 1440

⇒ 12% of x = 1440

⇒ 12/100 × x = 1440

⇒ x = (1440 × 100)/12

⇒ x = 12000
