Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: B

Explanation

The correct answer is option 2 i.e. 3750.

Let the total number of votes be 100x.

Number of votes casted = 100x × 88/100 = 88x

Number of votes of winning candidate = 100x × 60/100 = 60x

Number of votes of losing candidate = 88x - 60x = 28x

Given, 60x - 28x = 1200

⇒ 32x = 1200

⇒ x = 37.5

Now, total number of votes = 100x

⇒ 100 × 37.5 = 3750
