Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: C

Explanation

The correct answer is Option 3 i.e. 12,72,348.

Total votes of the electorate = 7,560,000

Since 10% of the voters did not cast their votes, only 90% of the electorate voted.

Votes cast = 90% of 7560000

⇒ 90/100 × 7560000

⇒ 90 × 75600 = 6804000

15% of the votes cast were declared invalid, so only 85% of the votes cast were valid.

Valid votes = 85% of 6804000

⇒ 85/100 × 6804000

⇒ 85 × 6804 = 5783400

Candidate P received 78% of the valid votes, so candidate Q received the remaining 22% of the valid votes.

Votes for Q = 22% of 5783400

⇒ 22 × 57834 = 1272348

Thus, The number of valid votes that Qgot is 1272348
