Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: A

Explanation

The correct answer is Option 1 i.e. 15500.

If one gets 64% of the votes then, another gets 36% of the votes

The winning candidate has a majority of 4,340 votes

This means the difference in the number of votes received by the winning candidate and the other candidate is 4,340 votes

Now,

⇒ 64% - 36% = 4340

⇒ 28% = 4348

By using the unitary method

⇒ 4348 × 100%/28% = 155.28 × 100 = 155 × 100 = 15500(approx)

So, the total number of votes polled is approximately 15,500.
