SSC CHSL - 10 July 2024 - Shift 4 • Quantitative Aptitude • Q56

In an election between two candidates, Ananth and Aravind, Ananth got 55% of the total valid votes, and 20% of the votes were invalid. If the total number of votes was 30,000, find the number of valid votes that Aravind got.

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: A

Explanation

The correct answer is option 1 i.e. 10800.

According to the given question,

Total valid votes = 80% of 30000 = 24000

Votes received by Aravind = (100% - 55%) of 24000

⇒ 24000 × 45/100 = 10800
