Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: A

Explanation

The correct answer is option 1 i.e. 320016.

Given that

Votes gained by the losing candidate = 41%

Votes gained by the winning candidate = 59%

Let the total number of votes be = x

According to the question;

(59% - 41%)x = 97632

⇒ 18% of x = 97632

⇒ x = 542400

Hence, the votes received by the winning candidate = 59% of 542400 = 320016
