SSC CGL 2020 PYQ — Question 60

SSC CGL - 4th March 2020 Shift 3 • Quantitative Aptitude • Q60

In ΔABC, AC = 8.4 cm and BC = 14 cm. P is a point on AB such that CP = 11.2 cm and ∠ACP = ∠B. What is the length (in cm) of BP?

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: A

Explanation

The correct answer is Option 1 i.e 3.78.

Understanding/Application

Triangle ACP ~ Triangle ABC (Angle A is common and ∠ACP = ∠B)

AB/AC = BC/CP = AC/AP

From first 2, we get -

AB/AC = BC/CP

⇒ AB/8.4 = 14/11.2

⇒ AB = 10.5 cm

From last 2, we have -

BC/CP = AC/AP

⇒ 14/11.2 = 8.4/AP

⇒ AP = 6.72 cm

Hence,

BP = AB - AP = 10.5 - 6.72 = 3.78 cm
