Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: D

Explanation

The correct answer is Option 4 i.e. 1920.

Let the total number of students be y

The total number of girls = 5y/12

Then, the number of boys = y - 5y/12 = 7y/12

The number of below 14 years of age = 4/7 × 7y/12 = y/3

The number of girls 14 years or above 14 years of age = 2/5 × 5y/12 = y/6

The number of girls below 14 years = 5y/12 - y/6 = 3y/12 = y/4

Total number of students below 14 years = y/3 + y/4 = 7y/12

According to the question

⇒ 7y/12 = 1120

⇒ y = 1920

Hence,

The total number of students is 1920
