SSC CHSL 2024 PYQ — Question 53

SSC CHSL - 03 July 2024 - Shift 2 • Quantitative Aptitude • Q53

In a right-angled triangle ABC such that ∠BAC = 90o and AD is perpendicular to BC. If the area of ΔABC is 63 cm2, area of ΔACD = 7 cm2, and AC = 5 cm, then the length of BC is equal to:

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: B

Explanation

The correct answer is option 2 i.e. 15 cm.

Triangle ABC and Triangle ADC are similar triangles.

So,

Area of triangle ABC/Area of triangle ABC = BC2/AC2

⇒ 63/7 = BC2/52

BC = 225\sqrt{225} = 15 cm
