In a grocery shop, Samarth sold 950 g of sugar to a customer in place of 1 kg for ₹54. The cost price of 1 kg sugar was ₹36. How much profit (in ₹) did he earn on selling the sugar?

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: D

Explanation

The correct answer is option 4 i.e. 19.8.

Selling price (SP) of 950 g = ₹54

Cost price (CP) of 1 kg (1000 g) = ₹36

CP of 950 g = 950/1000 × 36 = 0.95 × 36 = ₹34.20

Profit = SP − CP = 54 − 34.20 = ₹19.80
