In a company, there are only two types of employees: workers and officers. The average monthly salary of an officer is ₹78,000 more than the combined average monthly salary of an employee, while the combined average monthly salary of an employee is ₹42,000 more than the average monthly salary of a worker. What percentage of all the employees are officers?

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: B

Explanation

The correct answer is Option 2 i.e. 35%.

Let the salary of the worker be x

Average monthly salary of employee = 42000 + x

Average monthly salary of officer = 78000 + 42000 + x = 120000 + x

The ratio between the number of officers and workers:

Officer : workers = 42000 + x - x : 120000 + x - 42000 - x

⇒ 21 : 39

Total employees = 21n + 39n = 60n

Hence required percentage of employees who are officers = (21n/60n) × 100 = 35%
