Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: A

Explanation

Correct Answer is option 1 i.e. 84

Understanding

Application

Since total students = 80

Ratio of the urban to the rural students = 5 : 3

Hence,

Urban students in the class = 80 × 5/8 = 50

Rural students in the class = 80 × 3/8 = 30

Let the average score of urban students be x.

Total score of urban students = 50x

Average score of rural students = 1.4x

Total score of rural students = 30 × 1.4x = 42x

Since average score of all the students is 69;

Total score of all students = 69 × 80 = 5520

Now,

50x + 42x = 5520

⇒ x = 5520/92 = 60

Average score of rural students = 1.4 × 60 = 84
