In a class of 1500 students, the percentage of girls is 30%. If 80% of the boys failed the examination, find t he number of boys who passed in the examination.

Explanation

The correct answer is option 2 i.e. 210

Number of girls in the class = 30% of 1500 

Number of girls in the class = 0.3×15000.3\times 1500 = 450

So,

Number of boys in the class = 1500 - 450 = 1050

Now,

Percentage of boys who failed in the exam = 80%

So , percentage of boys who passed in the exam = 20%

Now,

Number of boys who passed in the exam = 20% of 1050 = 0.2×10500.2\times 1050

Number of boys who passed in the exam = 210
