In a class 60 students (boys and girls), there are 60% girls. In an examination the average score of the boys is 52 and that of the girl is 65. What is the average score of the whole class?

The correct answer is option 1 i.e. 59.8

Total students = 60
% of girls = 60% ⇒ Girls = 60 × 0.6 = 36, so Boys = 60 − 36 = 24

Avg score of boys = 52

Avg score of girls = 65

Average of class = (24×52)+(36×65)60=1248+234060=358860=59.8\frac{(24 \times 52) + (36 \times 65)}{60} = \frac{1248 + 2340}{60} = \frac{3588}{60} = 59.8
