Given that,

In ₹150, B buys 10 pens for ₹8 each, 10 erasers for ₹5 each and some sharpeners for ₹4 each

Let the sharpeners bought be X

Sum of total values = Average × number of total values

According to the question

Sum of price of total values = (10 × 8) + (10 × 5) + (X × 4) = 130 + 4X

The number of total values = 10 + 10 + X = 20 + X

Now,

⇒ 130 + 4X = 150

⇒ 4X = 150 - 130 = 20

⇒ X = $20 \over 4$ = 5

Hence, average = $150 \over 20+ 5$ = $150 \over 25$ = 6
